I’m not a big fan of CNN or Anderson Cooper either one (although he is kind of cute ).

However, when I first heard that he was attacked after a mob got out of control I felt a little sorry for him and started to wonder how the egyptian public could get so out of control until I saw this video.

So now I’m thinking, “are you really trying to report on something or are you pushing your way through a shouting mob to sensationalize a story”.

I’m pretty sure that it was the latter. It’s obvious that brains don’t necessarily come along with the pretty face…

What do you think?

So, there’s more news out this weekend about Letterman and staffers hooking up. Is this really shocking news or just a media frenzy trying to push someone down so the rest of us can somehow feel superior?

Apparently Mr. Letterman had sexual relationships with several female staff members over the last couple of years. He is even reported to have a semi-secret bedroom (the bunker) somewhere above the Ed Sullivan theater. I guess I’m just not that impressed with the story. Dave wasn’t married at the time, he is a workaholic putting in 12 hours a day and never missed a show due to illness – is it surprising that he was attracted to (or they to him) some of the people he spent the majority of his time with?

What are some things that are attractive to women?

1. Power
2. Fame
3. Money
4. Charm
5. Humor

Letterman fits all these criteria and although he does not have the typical ‘dashing good looks’ that we typically think of as a heart throb he has all the above on a scale that is far beyond what most of us can imagine. If you don’t think he’s had to turn away more women than most guys will ever meet in their lifetime you’re just not in touch with reality.

There doesn’t seem to evidence that he was a skirt chaser into one night stands but instead had only a couple of longer term relationships – it just so happens that they were members of his staff. To suggest that this is some foreign practice is really to be burying your head in the sand. The fact of the matter is that most relationships / affairs / etc. happen in the work environment. Most of us spend far more time at work than we do at home and putting people of the opposite sex together for hours at a time working closely on projects that we’re passionate about is the perfect formula for relationships to drift past the platonic.

So we find out that David Letterman is human – so what! It’s happened to the best of us. Besides, I think he’s kinda cute… especially when he’s apologizing on the air.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve heard or seen the video footage of Kanye West jumping on stage at the 2009 MTV video awards in the middle of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.

Now I’m no fan of Taylor (or the MTV video awards for that matter) but really – let the girl have her moment in the spotlight. Have we lost all respect and decorum as a society? Apparently so, after looking through the lyrics of a few Kanye West songs. Now that I’ve done that and ruined my appetite for the day I’m not sure why I would expect anything less from him.

Which brings me to another point – why does pop music have to be so freakin’ lifeless? I mean, everything that’s out there is just crap icing on top of crap cake. I just can’t stand to listen to it anymore. It probably says something about our culture that we don’t even care to think beyond the shallowest levels in anything that we do. All we want is pithy, nonsensical platitudes in our music and quick pop psychology fixes for the rest of our lives.

But I digress, so let’s get back to Kanye the moronic egomaniac. Should we expect better? Probably not! As long as we reward idiocy with airplay, youtube clips and massive publicity, we’ll get more of the same. Everybody wants their five minutes of fame even if it’s at the expense of someone, anyone (or everyone) else. Why should we even care what these people say, sing or think about? Do they have any qualifications that would make me want to value their opinion?

Of course, the same is true here – why should you care what I say, sing or think about? I love to rant and rave about anything that crosses the circuits in my little brain – whether I’m qualified to comment on it or not.

Maybe I should start writing pop music…
